My garage door froze. How can I open it?
This can happen when things get cold enough during the peak of winter. Your garage door will freeze and get stuck to the floor. If this happens to you don’t risk forcing it open. Use a hair-dryer or hot water to gradually melt away the frost. Once you're sure it's all gone, try to open it carefully.
What are the advantages of a manual garage door?
This is somewhat of a rare question, but if we suppose a manually operated door does hold one major advantage over automatic systems. It doesn't need an electric opener, which means if the power goes out, it wouldn't make any difference. However, modern systems do have the option to have a backup battery installed, so this so-called "advantage" doesn't really hold up.
Is it normal for steel garage doors to rust?
Yes. Rust is the blight of many metallic components. To keep things from rusting, or to at least delay its appearance, you need to apply a rust-resistant coating to your door and all of its relevant parts. This can go a long way in ensuring that your system remains functional for as long as possible.
